However, for patients with personality pathologies, due to their damaged ability of decisionmaking, it seems extremely difficult to either give consent or dissent, despite their intact intelligence. This article, based on the author’s previous writings which described those patients in detail, depicts a deepened understanding concerning their difficulties of making decisions, or exercising autonomy, related to early life events using a few scholars’ theories.
